1. Technology overview
Nexeon is a battery-materials company founded in 2006 as a spin-out from Imperial College London, headquartered in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK, developing silicon-based anode materials to replace part or all of the graphite in lithium-ion battery cells and raise their energy density.
Its NSP2 silicon anode material is engineered as a powder additive that battery makers blend into existing electrode-coating processes; Nexeon operates a technical centre in Yokohama, Japan, and its first commercial-scale production facility in South Korea, licensing its patented silicon technology and supplying material to cell manufacturers and automotive customers building electric-vehicle and consumer battery packs.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
1. NSP2 silicon anode: patented silicon particle technology raises energy density versus graphite-only anodes.
2. Drop-in blending: powder additive compatible with standard electrode-coating lines.
3. Licensing model: patented technology licensed to battery-material and cell producers globally.
4. Commercial-scale plant: first mass-production facility established in South Korea.
5. Technical support: Yokohama, Japan centre supports customer qualification and scale-up.
6. Target markets: materials supplied for electric-vehicle, consumer electronics, and medical-device batteries.
