1. Technology overview
Ubidots is an IoT software company founded in 2013 in Colombia that provides a cloud platform for collecting, visualizing and acting on sensor data. It was built to let system integrators, OEMs and industrial teams launch connected-device products without building their own backend infrastructure.
The platform ingests data over MQTT, HTTP, TCP and UDP from field devices and edge gateways, then exposes it through real-time dashboards, synthetic variables and rule-based automation. Ubidots reports over one million sensors reporting into the platform and more than 3,000 businesses using it across manufacturing, agriculture, energy, healthcare and smart-city applications.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
1. Multi-protocol ingestion: accepts device data via MQTT, HTTP, TCP and UDP.
2. Real-time dashboards: over 20 widget types for live sensor visualization.
3. Synthetic variables: derive computed metrics from raw device data.
4. Rule-based automation: trigger alerts and actions from threshold or event conditions.
5. Device management: provision and monitor large fleets of connected sensors.
6. AI agents: read platform data and trigger actions automatically.
