1. Technology overview
ANYbotics is a Swiss robotics company founded in 2016 as a spin-off from the Robotic Systems Lab at ETH Zurich, headquartered in Zurich with an additional office in San Francisco. It was formed to commercialize legged robot technology for autonomous inspection of industrial plants where manual rounds are slow, costly or unsafe.
Its main product is ANYmal, a four-legged robot that walks routes through complex industrial environments to read gauges, detect leaks, measure temperature and capture thermal and visual data without human intervention. Collected data feeds into a software layer that flags anomalies for maintenance teams. Customers include Siemens Energy, Vale, Novelis, Equinor and BP across power, mining, oil and gas and chemical sites.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
1. ANYmal robot: Four-legged platform that navigates stairs, uneven terrain and tight industrial spaces.
2. Autonomous inspection routes: Robot patrols predefined paths without an operator on site.
3. Sensor payload: Onboard visual, thermal and acoustic sensors capture equipment condition data.
4. Anomaly detection software: Collected data is analyzed to flag readings that deviate from normal ranges.
5. Hazardous-area operation: Designed to work in environments unsafe for regular staff rounds.
6. Fleet deployment: Multiple robots can be scheduled and monitored across one or several sites.
