1. Technology overview
Epsilon Forge is an electromagnetic engineering startup spun off from the University of Buenos Aires and the CONICET research agency, headquartered in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and founded by applied mathematics professor Martin D. Maas. The company was set up to bridge academic electromagnetic simulation research and industrial chip and antenna design work.
Epsilon Forge combines open-source EDA tools with custom engineering to deliver full-wave electromagnetic extraction for on-chip passives in RFIC and MMIC designs, layout validation for photonic integrated circuits, and design work for advanced antennas and quantum RF hardware. Its clients include space agency CONAE, steelmaker Tenaris, and RFIC and medical-device startups served through project-based engagements.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
1. RFIC & MMIC Extraction: Delivers full-wave EM extraction for spiral inductors, transformers and matching networks with SPICE models.
2. Photonic IC Design: Provides gdsfactory-based layout validation and grating coupler design for photonic circuits.
3. Antenna & Quantum RF: Designs phased-array antennas and superconducting circuit components.
4. Open-Source EDA Tools: Builds on and contributes to gsim, gdsfactory, Palace and Meep, including its own PalaceToolkit.
5. HPC Workflows: Deploys simulation work on cloud and HPC infrastructure for faster design cycles.
6. Project-Based Engineering: Serves clients such as CONAE and Tenaris through custom, documented engagements.
