1. Technology overview
Fusion energy promises to fundamentally transform the energy landscape as we know it. Dispatchable, with no emissions, it will play a significant role in the clean energy future. Our approach enables us to unlock significant milestones in the near term while effectively reducing the technical leap between our next near commercial machine and a fully operational commercial pilot plant. This approach brings us closer to our ultimate goal of providing clean and sustainable fusion power to the world.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
Magnetized Target Fusion (MTF) Technology:
General Fusion’s proprietary MTF technology seeks to achieve practical and cost-effective fusion energy. This method involves compressing plasma to the extreme conditions required for fusion reactions to occur, typically over 100 million degrees Celsius. By magnetically confining plasma and compressing it with liquid metals, they aim to achieve a stable fusion process
Fusion Power Plants:
The company is designing and constructing fusion power plants to supply zero-carbon electricity to the grid. General Fusion has a goal to begin operating these plants by the early-to-mid 2030s, playing a significant role in global clean energy transitions
Plasma Injectors and Compression Systems:
General Fusion is also advancing plasma injectors and liquid metal compression systems. These systems are key components of their MTF approach, facilitating the compression of plasma to create the necessary conditions for sustained fusion reactions
