1. Technology overview
Kantox is a currency management automation software company founded in 2011 by Philippe Gelis, Antonio Rami and John Carbajal, headquartered in London with an office in Barcelona. It automates the corporate FX workflow for companies whose pricing and margins are exposed to currency volatility, covering pre-trade, trade and post-trade stages that treasury teams otherwise run on spreadsheets. BNP Paribas agreed to acquire Kantox for EUR 120 million in October 2022, after a partnership begun in 2019, and the software continues to be sold under the Kantox brand.
The platform captures foreign currency exposure automatically from ERP or treasury systems, processes it under management-defined hedging rules, executes trades through corporate trading platforms, and returns reporting and hedge accounting output. Modules include Dynamic Hedging for rules-based automated hedging, Dynamic Pricing for pricing with live FX rates, In-House FX for centralising subsidiary FX, Payments and Collections, and a Hedge Accounting Module. Kantox states FX capability in over 140 currencies. Clients include FNAC, Hotelbeds, Fareva and Voyage Prive.
