1. Technology overview
Kayrros is a French geospatial-intelligence company founded in 2016 in Paris by a team of scientists and former energy executives, including Antoine Rostand and Antoine Halff. It was created to turn satellite imagery and atmospheric data into measurements of methane leaks, deforestation and other environmental changes that are otherwise hard to verify on the ground.
The Kayrros platform processes data from satellites such as Sentinel-5P together with proprietary algorithms to detect and quantify methane super-emitter events, monitor energy assets and track forest-carbon stocks. Its Methane Watch product, built with the European Space Agency, is used by regulators and corporates for emissions disclosure, while other modules serve traders and asset managers. Kayrros counts more than 80 customers, including major energy companies and financial institutions, and was acquired by Energy Aspects in 2026 while continuing to operate under its own brand.
