1. Technology overview
Enersens is a French deeptech company founded in 2010 and based in Rochetoirin, France, independent since 2018 after previously belonging to the specialty chemicals group PCAS. It designs and manufactures silica aerogel composites for applications where very thin, non-combustible thermal insulation is required, such as containing thermal runaway between battery cells or protecting aircraft structures near hot zones.
The main product is Skogar, an ultra-thin aerogel thermal barrier available from 0.5 mm thickness with a thermal conductivity of 0.012 W/(m.K) and ST, HT and VHT-UHT grades covering service temperatures from minus 195 to 1700 degrees Celsius, supplied with cutting and lamination services. Kwark provides silica aerogel granules and powders used as additives in coatings and formulations. Applications span EV, eVTOL and datacentre batteries, aircraft engine bays and hydrogen systems, space vehicles, defence and offshore energy. Production is in France with close to full European sourcing, the company is ISO 9001 certified, REACH compliant and ITAR-free, holds six patents, and works in the MATICS R&D consortium with Verkor and Saint-Gobain.
