1. Technology overview
SOLshare is a green-tech utility company founded in 2014 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, that builds peer-to-peer solar electricity trading networks for communities without reliable grid access. It grew out of research at MicroEnergy International to let households and small businesses buy and sell surplus solar power directly to their neighbours.
Its SOLgrid platform uses a smart device called SOLbox to interconnect individual solar home systems into a local microgrid with automated, metered peer-to-peer trading, while SOLroof adds commercial and industrial rooftop solar and SOLmobility extends the network to electric three-wheelers. SOLshare works with mini-grid developers, utilities and development partners across Bangladesh and India.
