1. Technology overview
akaBot is the process automation platform of FPT IS, part of Vietnam’s FPT Corporation, built by teams in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. It automates repetitive back-office work in banking, including transaction processing, card centre operations, credit administration, risk monitoring, financial reporting and customer information updates, where staff otherwise move data by hand between core banking, card and reporting systems.
The platform combines robotic process automation with intelligent document processing, process mining, chatbots and, more recently, agentic AI, so software robots operate existing applications through their interfaces rather than requiring them to be replaced. Its Human and Digital Worker Collaboration Center gathers approvals and exception handling into a single workspace, using akaBot Form Builder for staff input, with agents running unattended or triggered by a person; the model won Best Digital Collaboration in Vietnam at The Asset Triple A Awards announced on 12 March 2026 for work with Techcombank. akaBot reports 500+ processes implemented and deployments in more than 20 countries; financial users named include Techcombank, Vietcombank, VietinBank, TPBank, HDBank, HSBC and Mizuho Bank.
