1. Technology overview
Gecko Robotics was founded in 2013 by Jake Loosararian and Troy Demmer and is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with offices in Houston, Boston, New York City, Washington DC and Abu Dhabi. The company was created to replace manual, sampling-based inspection of boilers, tanks, pipes and hulls, where crews collect only a fraction of readings and structural risk stays hidden between shutdowns.
Its wall-climbing TOKA robots carry ultrasonic sensors and cameras to capture dense thickness and surface data across an asset, and that data feeds Cantilever, the company’s software platform for asset health and predictive analytics. The combined robotics-and-AI offering, marketed as AIR, is used across defense, oil and gas, power, pulp and paper, steel and mining; published customers and partners include the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, ADNOC, Georgia Pacific and HF Sinclair. Gecko raised a USD 125 million Series D in June 2025 at a USD 1.25 billion valuation.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
1. TOKA climbing robots: magnetic-crawling platforms carrying ultrasonic sensors and cameras over vertical and curved surfaces.
