1. Technology overview
Ishitva Robotic Systems is an Ahmedabad-based company founded in 2016 by Jitesh Dadlani to bring robotics, computer vision and AI into waste management. It addresses a basic problem in recycling in India and similar markets: mixed, poorly segregated waste that is still sorted by hand, which limits purity and the value of recovered plastic.
Its machines combine high-definition imaging, AI and, for flakes, NIR, UV and colour sensors. The SUKA air sorter classifies single-stream waste by polymer, food-grade or non-food-grade use, label status and even brand, and feeds an analytics dashboard. SANJIVANI is an autonomous material recovery facility for municipal waste, and its AI is trained on more than 80 recyclate categories. The Flake Sorter and Flake Analyzer separate and measure contaminants in PET and mixed plastic flakes from 2 to 20 mm. Customers are recyclers, PET processors and municipal bodies.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- SUKA air sorter: AI and HD imaging separate materials by polymer, application, label status and brand.
- SANJIVANI autonomous MRF: real-time multi-category sorting of municipal solid waste.
- Flake Sorter: NIR, UV, colour imaging and AI remove foreign polymers and colours in 2–20 mm flakes.
- Flake Analyzer: hyperspectral vision and machine learning measure hidden contaminants in PET and mixed flakes in PPM.
- PET1: AI cleaning of PET bales at aggregator level.
- Analytics dashboard: tracks waste composition and sorting performance.
3. Potential application
PET recyclers in Vietnam can use flake sorting and analysis to qualify output for food-grade rPET contracts. Material recovery facilities serving cities such as Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi can automate sorting of mixed dry waste. Scrap aggregators can upgrade bale quality before selling to recyclers.
4. Benefits
Recyclers can replace manual picking with automated sorting, which raises throughput and lowers operating cost per tonne. Sorting by polymer, colour and food-grade use produces cleaner bales and flakes that sell at higher prices, including for food-grade rPET. The Flake Analyzer reports contamination in parts per million, giving buyers measurable quality data. The company says it has worked with more than 50 recyclers.
5. Market trends & opportunities
EPR rules and recycled content targets are raising demand for clean, traceable recycled plastic, including food-grade rPET. In Vietnam and other Southeast Asian markets, recycling still relies heavily on informal manual sorting, so recyclers that want to supply brands under EPR need automated, data-driven sorting to reach the purity buyers require.
