1. Technology overview
GalaxEye (Galaxeye Space Solutions Private Limited) is an Indian space company, reported as headquartered in Bengaluru and founded in 2021 by IIT Madras alumni. It builds Earth observation satellites that capture imagery in all weather.
Its first satellite, Mission Drishti, carries an X-band SAR sensor and a 7-band multispectral imager on one platform (OptoSAR), with fused resolution of 1.8 m. SAR gives up to 0.9 m resolution in Spotlight mode, and imagery targets developers, enterprises and resellers in infrastructure monitoring, agriculture and other sectors.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- OptoSAR payload: co-located SAR and 7-band multispectral sensors.
- X-band SAR: Stripmap and Spotlight modes, up to 0.9 m resolution.
- Multispectral imager: 3.6 m native resolution including red edge and NIR bands.
- Onboard processing: NVIDIA Jetson Orin chip, per press coverage.
- Early access dataset: programme for developers and enterprises.
3. Potential application
Rice and crop area mapping in the Mekong Delta during the rainy season. Flood extent mapping for provincial disaster agencies. Monitoring of ports, dams and transport corridors.
4. Benefits
Provides day and night, all-weather imaging, useful in cloudy tropical regions. Combines radar and multispectral data from one satellite. Offers an early access dataset programme. Swaths of 30 km (SAR) and 10 km (multispectral) per the company site.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Radar imagery is in demand where cloud cover limits optical satellites, including Southeast Asian monsoon regions. Vietnam's flood monitoring, rice area mapping and infrastructure deformation work can draw on SAR and multispectral fusion.
6. Other information
Founded 2021; reported headquarters in Bengaluru, India. Satellite Drishti launched on 3 May 2026 on a Falcon 9. Signed an agreement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) to resell its product portfolio globally, per press.
