1. Technology overview
Aerones is a robotics company founded in 2015 in Riga, Latvia, with a second base in Denton, Texas, that builds heavy-payload flying and rope-climbing robots for wind turbine maintenance. The company was created to replace slow, weather-dependent manual rope access with automated robotic systems, and now serves wind farm operators across more than 30 countries.
Aerones robots perform blade and tower inspection, internal blade assessment, lightning-protection system checks, blade and tower cleaning, leading-edge erosion repair and ice-phobic coating application, with services extending to offshore turbines. Customers include major wind power operators and OEMs such as NextEra, GE, Vestas, Enel and Siemens Gamesa, whose combined fleets represent more than half of global wind power capacity.
