1. Technology overview
Brim Financial is a Toronto-based cards and payments platform-as-a-service founded in 2016 by Rasha Katabi. It sells to banks, credit unions, fintechs, non-bank lenders and consumer brands that want to run card and payment programmes without rebuilding issuing, servicing and loyalty infrastructure. Brim is itself a licensed credit card issuer in North America and is certified on both the Visa and Mastercard networks, so a client can launch on Brim’s licence or its own.
The platform covers credit, debit, prepaid and secured card issuing, BNPL, rewards and loyalty, commercial and employee card portals, cross-border payments, ACH and real-time payments. In January 2026 Brim joined Payments Canada and launched Payments as a Service, extending the platform into multi-rail money movement for banks, fintechs and merchants. Named clients include Laurentian Bank, Canadian Western Bank, Manulife Bank, Affinity Credit Union, Zolve, PayFacto and Air France-KLM. Brim closed an $85 million Series C in December 2025 led by EDC Investments with Vistara Growth.
