1. Technology overview
Continental Device India Ltd (CDIL) is an Indian semiconductor manufacturer founded in 1964 and headquartered in New Delhi, with additional fabrication units in Mohali, making it one of India’s longest-running discrete semiconductor makers. The company addresses demand for locally manufactured diodes and transistors in defense, automotive and renewable-energy applications, as India pushes to build domestic chip manufacturing capacity.
CDIL manufactures diffused wafers, transistors, power transistors, diodes and rectifiers, MOSFETs, triacs, SCRs, TVS devices and voltage regulators, and in 2025 launched India’s first indigenous solar bypass diodes while becoming the first Indian company producing silicon carbide devices. Customers span defense, automotive and solar-energy manufacturers, with shipments reaching customers in over 35 countries through an international office in Hong Kong.
