1. Technology overview
CSM GmbH, based in Filderstadt, Germany, builds decentralised measurement technology for vehicle and machinery development and states it has been setting standards in this field for over 40 years. The company employs nearly 80 people, most of them engineers working in hardware and software development. CSM is part of the Vector Group and keeps its own brand, product lines and calibration laboratory, and cooperates with Vector Informatik on measurement systems for electric and hybrid vehicles.
Products are CAN based and EtherCAT based measurement modules that digitise sensor signals close to the measuring point, including high-voltage-safe modules, HV breakout modules, the HV BM-Split evo, the DTemp temperature measurement system, exhaust measurement modules, UniCAN data loggers, current sensors and industrial memory cards and drives. CSMconfig software and an INCA add-on configure the modules and integrate them into existing test tool chains. Users are automotive and e-mobility development, test benches and durability testing departments.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
1. Decentralised digitising: measurement modules convert analog sensor signals to digital close to the measuring point, reducing cabling and noise.
2. High-voltage measurement: HV-safe modules, HV breakout modules and HV BM-Split evo cover current, voltage, power and temperature on high-voltage systems.
3. Bus integration: CAN MiniModules and ECAT MiniModules feed data into CAN and EtherCAT based test setups.
4. Data recording: UniCAN data loggers record measurement data standalone, with industrial memory cards and drives supplied as accessories.
5. Own calibration laboratory: CSM operates a calibration laboratory and publishes test and calibration documents for its modules.
6. Scale and focus: nearly 80 staff, mostly engineers, and more than 40 years of work in vehicle measurement technology.
