1. Technology overview
CureApp, Inc. was established on 31 July 2014 in Tokyo, Japan by physician Kohta Satake and engineer Shin Suzuki. The company develops prescription digital therapeutics (DTx): evidence-based software programs prescribed by doctors for conditions where drugs and devices alone leave treatment gaps, targeting the behavioural component of chronic disease.
Its regulated portfolio covers nicotine dependence, treated with an app plus a CO checker that received Japanese marketing approval in August 2020 and insurance reimbursement in December 2020, and hypertension, marketed with Teijin Pharma under a joint agreement signed in June 2024. Programs for alcohol dependence, NASH and breast-cancer-related symptoms are in research or development. CureApp also sells DTx-BASE, a platform that supports other companies through development, regulatory approval, reimbursement and distribution of software as a medical device, plus ascure corporate health programs for employers and health insurance unions.
