1. Technology overview
Exotec was founded in 2015 in Lille, France and builds automated storage and retrieval systems for warehouses and distribution centres. The company acts as both original equipment manufacturer and integrator: it designs and produces the robots and racking itself rather than reselling third party hardware, and delivers the installed system to the operator. Offices span Lille, Atlanta, Munich, Tokyo and South Korea.
The core product is the Skypod system, a goods-to-person AS/RS in which mobile robots travel the warehouse floor and climb the storage racking to retrieve bins, then present them to operators at picking stations. Around it Exotec supplies stations, conveyors and inbound automation equipment, coordinated by Deepsky, its warehouse execution software. More than 75 brands worldwide run their warehouse operations on Exotec systems, across retail, e-commerce, grocery and industrial distribution.
