1. Technology overview
Cashflow Score is an open banking-based credit risk score from Experian, the Dublin-headquartered global credit bureau. Launched in North America in March 2025, it is built on consumer-permissioned bank transaction data — checking, savings and credit card activity — rather than bureau credit files alone.
Experian acts as a technical service provider: it categorises raw transaction data, derives cashflow attributes covering income, expenses, wealth and debt, then computes a score on the 300-850 scale predicting the likelihood that a consumer goes 60 days past due within 12 months. It can be used standalone for thin-file or credit-invisible applicants, or layered on top of a conventional bureau score, where Experian reports up to a 25% lift in predictive performance. The companion Cashflow Attributes product exposes 970+ transaction-derived attributes for lenders that build their own models.
