1. Technology overview
Mambu is a banking software company founded in Berlin in 2011 by Eugene Danilkis, Frederik Pfisterer and Sofia Nunes, now headquartered in Amsterdam with offices in Berlin, London, New York and Singapore. It sells a SaaS core banking platform on a composable model: instead of one monolithic system, an institution assembles the lending, deposit and payment capabilities it needs and connects the rest through APIs. A funding round in December 2021 valued the company at 5.3 billion USD.
The platform covers lending for consumer, SME, BNPL and embedded finance products, deposits including current accounts, savings, wallets and term deposits, payment orchestration and connectivity, Islamic banking, and Banking-as-a-Service. It is API-first and multi-tenant, so product parameters are configured rather than coded. Mambu reports hundreds of customers across banks, lenders, credit unions and fintechs, operating in more than 65 countries and serving around 230 million end users, with over 450 technology and services partners. BancoEstado, the Chilean state bank, is a published reference.
