1. Technology overview
AONIC, formerly Poladrone, is a Malaysian drone technology group based in Subang Jaya, Selangor, that began using drones to solve industrial problems in 2016 and launched its first agriculture drone in 2018. It rebranded to AONIC in 2022 and now runs agriculture, industrial, services, retail and academy businesses with branches in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos.
Mist Drone is an in-house blanket and point-to-point spraying drone developed by Malaysian engineers. It carries up to 50 litres, pumps up to 16 L/min and flies autonomous preset routes with terrain following and obstacle avoidance. The Mist Flight App generates waypoints from mission files and Airamap Desktop handles spray planning and live monitoring. Buyers are farmers, plantations and spraying-service operators growing paddy, corn, sugarcane, oil palm, durian and similar crops.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- 50-litre tank: carries up to 50 litres with a pump flow of up to 16 L/min.
- Autonomous flight: flies preset routes with terrain-following and obstacle avoidance.
- Dual spraying modes: blanket spraying of wide areas and point-to-point spraying of targets.
- Spreading system: distributes seeds, fertilizers and granular pesticides.
- Interchangeable nozzles: adjust spray pressure, droplet size and volume per crop.
- Planning software: Mist Flight App and Airamap Desktop for waypoints, spray planning and flight records.
3. Potential application
- Rice cooperatives in the Mekong Delta offering drone spraying and fertilizer spreading services to members.
- Durian and coffee plantations in the Central Highlands applying point spraying to reduce pesticide use.
- Agrochemical distributors bundling drones with inputs and financing for spraying-service teams.
4. Benefits
- Replaces manual spraying across large fields, reducing labour and exposure of workers to chemicals.
- Point-to-point mode targets only problem areas, cutting unnecessary pesticide use.
- One aircraft also spreads seeds, fertilizers and granular pesticides, raising equipment utilisation.
- Bundled warranty, pilot training and 0% instalment financing (Aonic Flex) lower adoption barriers.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Labour shortages and rising input costs are pushing Southeast Asian rice, fruit and plantation growers toward drone spraying. Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia have seen rapid growth in agricultural drone use and spraying-service providers, while regulators are formalising pilot certification and drone operating permits.
6. Other information
Began operations in 2016 as Poladrone and rebranded to AONIC in July 2022. Expanded into Thailand in 2020, Vietnam in December 2023 (Vietnam office at Fosco Building, Ho Chi Minh City) and Laos through a joint venture in 2024. Official DJI Enterprise distributor; Drone Academy Asia is a CAAM-approved remote pilot training organisation; secured a CAAM Unmanned Aerial Work Certificate in January 2025.
