1. Technology overview
NAWAH, formerly known as NAWA Technologies, was founded in 2013 in Aix-en-Provence, France, as a spin-off from the French atomic energy agency CEA, and rebranded to NAWAH in 2026. The company was created to industrialize vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VACNT), a nanomaterial architecture that had been difficult to manufacture consistently at scale for composite and energy applications.
NAWAH grows dense forests of carbon nanotubes directly on substrates such as prepregs, veils and films, then transfers and encapsulates them with complementary materials to tune electrical, thermal and mechanical properties. Its NAWAH-Stitch platform targets next-generation composite manufacturers, while a catalyst platform under development targets fuel cell and electrolyser makers; the company operates from France and a US site in Ohio.
