1. Technology overview
Nowports is a digital freight forwarding company founded in 2018 in Monterrey, Mexico by Alfonso de los Rios and Maximiliano Casal, built to modernize international freight forwarding for Latin American shippers who traditionally relied on manual, paper-based customs and booking processes. In 2022 it became one of Mexico’s first logistics unicorns after a funding round led by SoftBank’s Latin America Fund.
The platform manages ocean FCL and LCL, air and ground freight, customs brokerage and cargo insurance through a digital dashboard with real-time shipment tracking and automated alerts, and offers freight financing of up to 120 days in Mexico. Nowports serves more than 5,000 customers across over 90 countries, working with more than 200 strategic partners on trade lanes linking Asia, Europe, the United States and Latin America.
