TraceGround

TraceGround is a food traceability technology company founded in Sofia, Bulgaria, providing a QR-code-based platform that records the journey of food products from farm to retail shelf. The company built its system to help food producers, distributors and retailers in Central and Eastern Europe respond to contamination outbreaks faster and prove ethical sourcing claims to regulators and consumers.

The platform assigns a unique QR code to each batch and records supply chain events on the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) rather than a public cryptocurrency network, keeping the cost per tracked item between EUR 0.01 and 0.05. TraceGround operates the only EBSI blockchain node in Bulgaria and one of the first ten EBSI wallets in Europe. Customers include food producers, distributors and the Bulgarian retail chain Kaufland, which uses the system to verify product origin at store level.
