1. Technology overview
Umitron is an aquaculture technology company founded in 2016 with dual headquarters in Singapore and Tokyo. It was created to reduce feed waste and labour costs on offshore fish farms, where manual feeding and a lack of environmental data make it difficult to match feed volume to actual fish appetite.
Its Umitron Cell is a solar-powered, satellite-connected automatic feeder that farmers control remotely from a smartphone; paired with the Fish Appetite Index, a real-time underwater camera system, it adjusts feeding timing and quantity to observed fish behaviour. Umitron Farm adds production and cost-management reporting on top of the feeding data. Customers are marine fish farming operators in Japan and other Asian markets.
