1. Technology overview
VIGO Photonics is a Polish photonics and semiconductor company based in Ozarow Mazowiecki, near Warsaw, built on infrared detector technology developed since the 1980s by Professor Jozef Piotrowski’s team at the Military University of Technology, later commercialized as VIGO System and rebranded VIGO Photonics. The company addresses the need for room-temperature, uncooled infrared detection used in gas analysis, spectroscopy and industrial safety monitoring, where competing technologies typically require cryogenic cooling.
VIGO Photonics manufactures HgCdTe, InAs and InAsSb epitaxial wafers, infrared photon detectors, detection modules and mid-infrared focal plane arrays, alongside the HyperPIC sensing platform, and expanded internationally with a Florida office and the acquisition of InfraRed Associates. Customers span industrial gas monitoring, automotive safety sensors, defense and security, and spectroscopy applications across chemical, refining, power generation and food-production industries.
