1. Technology overview
Vive Crop Protection is an agricultural technology company founded in 2006 and headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, spun out of nanoparticle research at the University of Toronto. The company was formed to make existing crop protection active ingredients perform more consistently in the field, reducing the amount of chemical needed per acre and the waste generated by conventional formulations.
Its patented Allosperse platform encapsulates fungicides, insecticides and herbicides inside polymer nanoparticles that can be tank-mixed with water or blended directly into fertilizer, improving how the active ingredient disperses, adheres and performs under field conditions. Vive holds a portfolio of 112 granted patents, has raised more than 100 million Canadian dollars in equity and debt, and its encapsulated products are approved by both the U.S. EPA and Canada’s PMRA for use by growers and input retailers.
