1. Technology overview
Synctera is a banking and payments infrastructure company founded in 2020 and headquartered in San Francisco. It targets a structural problem in embedded finance: a fintech that wants to offer deposit accounts or cards must find a chartered sponsor bank, negotiate the partnership, then build ledgering, compliance and payment plumbing itself, while the bank must supervise the programme it sponsors.
Synctera sits between the two sides. It connects fintechs with sponsor banks in the United States and Canada and supplies a single API stack covering KYC/KYB onboarding, a core ledger, payment rails, card issuing and processing, and fraud and transaction monitoring. Both parties operate from the Synctera Console, a dashboard for account and case management, real-time insight and automated reconciliation. Customers are fintechs, embedded-finance brands, and community and regional banks running partnership programmes.
