1. Technology overview
Vodeno is a Banking-as-a-Service provider founded in Poland in 2018, with offices in Poland, Belgium, Spain and the UK. Its core product is the Vodeno Cloud Platform, an API-first core banking system built from scratch and running entirely on Google Cloud.
Vodeno pairs that technology with regulatory cover: through its sister institution Aion Bank, which holds a full banking licence supervised by the National Bank of Belgium and can passport across EU markets, clients launch regulated financial products without obtaining a licence of their own. The modular offering covers digital onboarding and account management, local and cross-border payments, Mastercard card issuing, savings and investment products, embedded lending, BNPL and merchant financing, plus compliance and risk tooling and white-label mobile applications. UniCredit completed its acquisition of Vodeno in March 2025.
