1. Technology overview
Belvo is a Latin American open finance platform founded in 2019 by Pablo Viguera and Oriol Tintore, headquartered in Mexico City with an office in Sao Paulo. It was created because lenders and fintechs in the region could not reliably assess customers with no credit bureau history, and it gives them consent-based access to bank, payroll and tax data through one API covering Mexico, Brazil and Colombia.
The platform combines data products with money movement. Data APIs cover banking transactions, account ownership verification, employment and payroll records, fiscal data from the Mexican SAT, and derived income and risk indicators. Payment products cover direct debit, Pix-based smart transfers and biometric payments in Brazil, plus smart collections for recurring billing. Belvo reports more than 80 million connected accounts, over 3 billion transactions analysed and around 1 billion US dollars of annualised total payment volume, and lists Nubank, iFood, Adyen and Alipay among its customers. It holds ISO 27001 and PCI DSS certification.
