1. Technology overview
Naio Technologies is an agricultural robotics company founded in November 2011 in Toulouse, France, by robotics engineers Aymeric Barthes and Gaetan Severac after meeting growers who needed help with repetitive field labor. The company builds autonomous robots that weed and maintain row crops and vineyards without relying on farm workers or chemical herbicides.
Its robot line includes Oz for market gardening and specialty crops, Ted, a straddling robot for vineyard inter-row and under-vine work, Orio, a tool carrier for vegetables and tree nurseries, and Jo, a crawler robot for narrow vineyards and berry crops. Customers are vegetable growers, vineyards and nurseries served through a network of more than 40 dealers in over 20 countries, and in 2026 Naio partnered with Kioti Europe to co-develop a new robotic platform.
