1. Technology overview
Weavr is a London-based embedded finance provider founded in 2019 by Alex Mifsud and Adrian Mizzi, with an EU entity registered in Malta. It packages regulated payment capability into pre-configured plug-and-play bundles so that B2B software vendors can add accounts, wallets and cards to their products without holding a licence. The underlying e-money licences come from Paynetics UK, authorised by the FCA (firm reference 942777), and Paynetics AD, authorised by the Bulgarian National Bank.
The platform provides digital wallets and payment accounts, virtual and physical cards, bulk payment runs, buy-now-pay-later and loyalty or gifting programmes, assembled into templates for use cases such as employee benefits, expense management, accounts payable and payroll. The acquisition of Comma Payments added open banking payment initiation alongside the BaaS rails, and a Visa partnership announced in July 2025 targets HR technology card programmes. Named customers include Ben, Club Employes, Finway and NUMARQE.
