1. Technology overview
ClearBank is a UK clearing and embedded banking infrastructure provider founded by Nick Ogden and launched in 2017 as the first new full-service clearing bank in Britain in more than 250 years. ClearBank Limited is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the FCA and PRA (FRN 754568), while ClearBank Europe N.V., registered in Amsterdam, is authorised by the European Central Bank and supervised by De Nederlandsche Bank, giving clients regulated access to both UK and euro payment systems.
The platform is API-native and sold only to businesses. It is packaged as agency banking for regulated firms that need access to UK payment schemes, embedded banking for fintechs and platforms that issue accounts to their own customers, and transaction banking for larger institutions. Modules cover multi-currency accounts, FX, real-time and scheme payments, and digital asset services. Customers named on the site include Tide, Airwallex, TrueLayer, Coinbase, Raisin, Allica Bank, Capital on Tap and PayPoint.
