1. Technology overview
Brankas is an open finance platform founded in 2016 by Todd Schweitzer and Kenneth Shaw, headquartered in Singapore and run as a fully remote company across Southeast Asia and MENA. It was built because banks and fintechs in emerging Asian markets had no common interface for account data and bank transfers, leaving digital lending and disbursement dependent on manual processes. Brankas connects both sides through one set of APIs covering six markets, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Jordan.
Its Direct API handles money-in bank transfers and payments, Disburse handles money-out single and bulk payouts, Merchant Link provides payment gateway infrastructure for institutions that want to run their own, and the Open Finance Suite acts as an API hub letting a bank expose account, statement and transfer services to third parties. Brankas reports more than 80 integrated financial institutions and partners and over 10 million API calls per month. Clients include RCBC, UnionBank and UNO Digital Bank. It is ISO 27001 certified and PCI DSS compliant, operates under Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas regulation, and raised a 20 million US dollar Series B led by Insignia Ventures Partners.
