1. Technology overview
Finverse is an open banking data and payments company founded in 2020 and headquartered in Hong Kong. It was created to give lenders, insurers and business software vendors in Asia Pacific a single permissioned route into a customer’s bank account, in markets where account aggregation infrastructure comparable to North America and Europe did not exist. The company connects 164 Asian banks and payment wallets across six markets, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
The Bank Data API returns real-time balances, up to 24 months of transaction and balance history, bank statements, account holder identity and estimated income for a linked account, which lenders use for income verification and affordability checks. The payments side covers a Payments API for recurring bank and card collection, Payment Links for invoice-based collection, and local rails such as eGIRO and FPS QR, at a published price of 0.5 percent per transaction. Finverse also offers a Xero integration for reconciling collections, and raised seed funding from Golden Gate Ventures, Febe Ventures, SixThirty and Venturra Capital.
