1. Technology overview
JALA (PT Jala Akuakultur Lestari Alamku) is an Indonesian aquaculture technology company founded in 2015 in Yogyakarta by Aryo Wiryawan and co-founders. It addresses unreliable water-quality data and fragmented recordkeeping, which lead to disease outbreaks and inconsistent harvests on shrimp farms across Indonesia.
Its core product, Baruni, is an internet-of-things device that monitors pond water quality and relays sudden changes in real time, feeding data into the JALA farm-management app, which records more than 40 cultivation parameters covering water quality, feed, growth and harvest results. The company also offers farming-supply services, harvest and traceability support, and has partnered with Conservation International on IoT-based shrimp farming paired with mangrove restoration. Customers are shrimp farmers, processors and buyers across Indonesia.
