1. Technology overview
Ramp is a United States financial operations company founded in March 2019 by Eric Glyman, Karim Atiyeh and Gene Lee, headquartered in New York. It addresses a problem common to corporate spending: card transactions, expense reports, supplier invoices and purchase requests sit in separate systems, so finance teams reconcile spend only after the money has left the company.
The platform issues physical and virtual Visa cards that carry the spending policy itself, applying per-card limits, merchant and category restrictions and receipt rules before a transaction is authorised. Around the cards sit expense management, accounts payable with OCR invoice extraction, procurement with three-way matching, travel booking, business accounts and two-way accounting sync with NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero and Sage. Ramp reports more than 70,000 business customers, including Notion, Shopify, Webflow and Eventbrite, and raised a 750 million USD Series F in June 2026 led by ICONIQ, GIC and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
