1. Technology overview
Rainforest is an embedded payments provider founded in 2022 in Atlanta, United States, by Joshua Silver, previously head of the healthcare payments company Patientco. It sells payment facilitation as a service to vertical SaaS companies – software vendors serving one industry such as healthcare, trucking, field service or dealerships – so that they can process their own customers’ card and bank payments and earn processing revenue without registering as a payment facilitator or carrying the related compliance and settlement liability.
The platform covers merchant underwriting and real-time onboarding, acceptance of card, ACH, Apple Pay, PayPal and Venmo, terminals and tap-to-phone, next-day funding, chargeback and dispute handling, fraud monitoring and embedded reporting, with low-code interface elements delivered through Component Studio. Rainforest reported close to one hundred software platform customers, among them RoadSync, Rose Rocket, Payground, Hint Health, Materio and Quote Machine, and raised a USD 29 million Series B in September 2025 that brought total funding to USD 57.5 million.
