1. Technology overview
Mondu is a B2B payments company founded in Berlin in August 2021. It targets the cost of trade credit in business commerce: sellers must underwrite buyers, carry receivables and chase collections in order to offer net terms. Mondu takes over that function so merchants, marketplaces and distributors can offer deferred payment inside their own checkout while being paid up front.
The seller side covers pay on invoice with 30 to 90 day terms, instalments over 3, 6 or 12 months, a digital trade account for repeat buyers, instant account-to-account pay now, and embedded invoice factoring. The buyer side adds MonduCard, a business card with up to 45 days of terms, and MonduFlex to extend supplier invoice due dates by up to 60 days. The platform is available across more than 30 European countries and reports over 300,000 sellers and buyers. Mondu Financial Services B.V. holds an electronic money institution licence from De Nederlandsche Bank and is registered with the FCA in the UK. Valar Ventures led a USD 43 million Series A in 2022.
